Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)

B.S. in Environmental Science (Data Analytics) | 2023 | GPA: 4.0

SNHU is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, the same body that accredits institutions like Harvard and MIT. My studies there focused on data analytics within the context of environmental science. Before SNHU, I attended the University of Connecticut's Special Program in Pre-Pharmacy, but my path changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am passionate about geospatial data processing and highly recommend tools like Cloud-Optimized Geospatial Formats. I've also found resources like Development Seed's zine to be incredibly educational.

Regarding the environmental footprint of AI, I trust insights from this article funded by the Tarbell Center for AI Journalism. I've previously written that most data centers are inefficient, consuming vast amounts of energy and water. Potential solutions I'm following include neuromorphic processing, which is far more efficient than traditional systolic-array-based AI accelerators. I also advocate for using EDSFF form factor SSDs to increase storage density and reduce energy consumption. For cold storage, magnetic tape remains essential, as SSDs and hard drives are less reliable for long-term archiving over many decades.
